Lead:
Hound Central, a student run organization, shares their passion for their High School in a unique way.
Main Idea:
For my multimedia package story, I would like to have a feature on Pullman High School. Pullman has numerous media classes that I think would be pretty interesting to get a behind the scenes look.
Doug Winchell is the teacher of these classes and is a leader among these students who are interested in how media works, and we can use it to create content and stories. He teacher photography, multimedia, and broadcast media. All of these classes combine help shape up Hound Central.
Hound Central has social media accounts like Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They also have a YouTube channel where they showcase their videos from the class, as well as live stream sporting events.
I want to take a look into Hound Central because I feel like it is such a unique opportunity that these students get in High School. Being able to learn all of these skills is a great introduction to what we as Murrow Students do now.
A few possible sources I have in mind would be media teacher Doug Winchell, and Principal Juston Pollestad. It would also be awesome to maybe interview former students as well as current students and see what they think about the class.
I would like to also know if they would have any future plans to collaborate with Washington State University on potential projects. I feel like with their media department it serves as a great step for a future Murrow graduate and I want to share that narrative.
